Panoramic photograph of Avenida Brazil seen from above, showing the advanced stages of the BRT Transbrasil lanes under construction and the old soap factory on the left hand side.
This new BRT Transbrasil has been causing jams around the town for months now. It is partially completed with heavy machinery still on the ground and workers walking about.
Avenida Brasil is one of the most important road connections in Rio, cutting the city for almost 60 kilometers from the port area connecting it to the North and West Zones of the city.
This photograph also shows a part of the past when multiple industries used to be sited in this area of the town, along the avenue. The blue building on the left hand side was one of these factories, a soap factory, for years now left aside without proper utilization.
