A couple of persons waiting for their luggage, which is arriving at Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport (aka Galeão or GIG).
Hopefully as you read it, they will have already collected their belongings and headed home.
This is how we start – arrivals at the Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport
Baggage collection at Galeão is not the fastest. Relax, otherwise you will get stressed. Slow down and enjoy the sight of bags slowly rolling in front of your eyes for several minutes (or even hours) before you actually get to see yours.
Brace yourself for some waiting time before hitting another queue for Federal Police baggage inspection.
Cross your fingers and hope for the Federal Police not to be on strike – performing their “Operação Padrão” checking every single bag in the X-ray machines.
Local connection from International to Domestic flights? Bad luck: your luggage will not be forwarded to the final destination and immigration procedures need to be done in Rio. Be prepared for more ‘quality’ time at the airport.
