Two container handling cranes with many ship containers piled up at the Port of Rio de Janeiro. Downtown skyline on the background.
This photograph was taken at an area of the city named Cajú (translation of cashew) from up the flyovers that connect the streets mainland Rio with the Rio-Niterói Bridge.
Ever important area in the logistics and supply chain of the country, the port handles supplies not only to Rio de Janeiro but also to other states like São Paulo, Espírito Santo and some that have no access to the sea like Minas Gerais and Goiás.
The area around the port is passing through renovations led by the consortium Porto Maravilha, for example new avenues opened up (Av. Binário) and a tunnel (named “450” to celebrate the 450th anniversary of the foundation of Rio de Janeiro).
