Olympic Cauldron and wind kinetic sculpture surrounded by lots of people in front of Candelária Cathedral, Downtown Rio de Janeiro.
Anthony Howe’s kinetic sculpture (driven by the wind ) alongside with the burning Olympic Flame was lighten up on the 05th of August and became an instant touristic attraction downtown, bringing thousands of people together every day to check it out and take some selfies.
The sculpture will soon be gone, but the iconic church sited right by the very end of Avenida Presidente Vargas will remain in place. When visiting Rio one may easily realize how powerful the Catholic Church once was: numerous churches dot some of the most expensive real state areas in Rio, some with statues covered in gold – they stand out of the rest of the buildings.
