Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Transcarioca bridge connecting Ilha do Governador with the continent. Empty if not for the fishermen looking forward for their catch of the day.
BRT – yes, there is no need for translation to some acronyms as they were adopted locally without a name in Portuguese.
This bridge remains mostly empty all day and night as it can only be used by BRT buses – providing free access and exit to those travelling to and from Ilha do Governador’s sited Rio’s International Airport.
The bridge is relatively new – it was opened for traffic in June 2014.
Not bad at all, but seems mostly underused with its only function being destined to BRTs and fishermen who dare walking along it.
