Group of young adults sit on the Salt Rock, enjoying the informal, relaxed atmosphere of a typical Monday evening.
A cultural mix, nothing but a cauldron of people from all backgrounds, different countries, no prejudice and much fun – all together on a Monday evening (lots will still wake up early for working tomorrow) for one single reason: Samba music.
This rock has witnessed the transformation Rio went through, from being mostly a jungle to being a concrete jungle – passing through slavery times, this area is where samba as we know was created and is still played today.
Urban interventions changed the appearance and shape of this rock, buildings were constructed on it, some parts of it were simply cut away and dynamited- but the piece that lasted makes up as a reminder of time and that we never know what will happen tomorrow, so we better enjoy our lives today.
